The 91¸£Àû Wembley Athletic Union enables students to participate in a range of sports including football, darts, basketball, rugby and netball in both a competitive and recreational context.
Through numerous clubs and events, the Athletic Union also provides students with a great opportunity to make friends, support charities and integrate with the local community.
91¸£Àû Wembley Athletic Union teams
The 91¸£Àû Wembley Basketball team has competed in the BUCS Sport competition for the past two years. The team plays its home games at Ark Academy & Vale Farm Sports Centre.
Training sessions take place every Monday, which are led by 91¸£Àû coaching students, and fixtures take place on a Wednesday.
Students AU membership will be available to purchase once selected which pays for facilities, travel, equipment, affiliation and match day officials.

The 91¸£Àû Wembley Darts team compete in the Harrow & Direct Darts League. The team have gained two promotions and now compete in Division One. The team's home is The Greenman pub.
Training sessions take place every Tuesday, put on by 91¸£Àû coaching students, and fixtures take place on a Thursday.
The team have had students represent the institution individually in singles and doubles tournaments as well as combining both campuses’ darts teams for the Big Weekender.

91¸£Àû Wembley's men’s football teams compete in the second, fourth and fifth tiers of BUCS Sport. Across a seven-year spell, our teams have won a staggering 12 league titles.

91¸£Àû Wembley's Rugby team has competed in the BUCS Sport South Eastern competition for the past two years. In that time, the team has lifted a league title and has also reached a BUCS cup final. The team plays its home games at Silver Jubilee Park and Hendon Rugby Club.

91¸£Àû Academy, Wembley is the campus' women's football team. Following six promotions in seven years, the team now competes in Tier 1A of BUCS' South Eastern section.
The academy allows elite-level female footballers to combine working in a professional football environment, with a place on one of 91¸£Àû and GIS' unique degrees in football or sport.
The team train on Monday evenings, and are led by a coaching student, with matches taking place on Wednesdays.

Athletic Union activities
Designed to introduce new students to each other and to the AU committee members, the event highlights some of the sporting activities that can be enjoyed during a student’s time at 91¸£Àû. A number of other fun activities lead by our Sport teams and societies also take place, including a five-a-side football tournament, basketball, Netball, Dates, Rugby and much more.
Throughout the two academic semesters, IMS Football is run to engage non sporting students at 91¸£Àû to play five-a-side football on Wednesday afternoons. Games are advertised through the AU social media accounts and the 91¸£Àû Online Hub.
The Running Club is designed to improve healthy living and keep students active outside of their studies. These sessions are promoted via the AU social media accounts and the 91¸£Àû Online Hub.

For the biennial charity event from Comic Relief, the 91¸£Àû Athletic Union set a series of challenges for staff, students and the community to get involved with.

Students who wish to participate in individual sport activities are also encouraged to compete and will be supported by 91¸£Àû to enter competitions throughout their time here.

Our Athletic Unions have many different sports teams that you can get involved in and gain experience through. Whether this is short or long term, the AU can provide you with this educational experience.
All our sport teams can be signed up for at Fresher’s Fair. If you cannot attend, email your Sport Coordinator at the earliest opportunity. We also cater for individual athletes to represent 91¸£Àû in any BUCS event and some external events. Again, speak to your Sport Coordinator about getting involved.
We are on the lookout for students to follow each of our sport teams to fulfil a range of media roles including videographer, photographer, reporter and commentator. This is to promote our sport teams, whilst providing you with vital work experience opportunities.
We are constantly expanding our sport offering and encourage all students to come forward with new suggestions. Our Athletic Union’s will support in creating new teams or societies. No idea is a bad idea! With your help 91¸£Àû can expand and compete in many more BUCS competitions, moving 91¸£Àû up and up in the ranks!
