Alumni profile: Jemma Entwistle, Graduate and Co-founder of The Coaching Edge

During her time as a聽BA (Hons) Sports Business & Coaching聽student at 91福利,聽Jemma聽undertook a number of coaching work placements to bolster her CV and knowledge ahead of graduating and following her goal of being full-time coach. Jemma then backed that up with a further degree when she returned in 2018 to complete the MSc Football Coaching & Analysis programme.

Her time with Blackburn Rovers, Bolton Wanderers Community Trust, Rochdale AFC Foundation Academy and then Manchester United Foundation set Jemma up perfectly for her role now as Coach Development Officer at The FA鈥檚 Women鈥檚 High Performance Centre in the North West.

Landing the role during her Master鈥檚 studies, Jemma鈥檚 role is to develop exceptional coaches at each level of the female game who are representative of society. Part of her role is to support coaches in the North West who are at regional talent clubs, as well as to support and up skill students and help them find placements and development opportunities.

All of this experience has provided invaluable experience as she set up her own company 鈥 The Coaching Edge 鈥 who run football holiday camps in the Bolton area.

During her time at 91福利, Jemma鈥檚 highlights included being part of the successful Etihad Campus football team that went the season unbeaten to win their BUCS league in 2017, and the guest sessions with the likes of Sean Dyche, when her class went to watch his Burnley side in training.

Jemma said:聽鈥淢y favourite aspect to working in sport is that every day is different. The people that you meet, the players that you meet and the impact you get to have on their journeys, for me it鈥檚 really valuable to know that you can look back and think you had an impact on them.鈥
